Cellara for iPhone

A native iOS app for your graph — not a wrapped web page. It holds the same rule the desktop app does: one cell fills the screen, its links sit around it, and moving between cells animates rather than reloads.

Where it is right now

The iOS app is in private beta and is not yet on the App Store. We are testing it with a small group while we finish device sync. If you would like to be in the next round, ask us — please mention that you are interested in iOS.

We would rather say this plainly than imply a download link exists. When the app is available on the App Store, this page will say so and link to it.

What the beta does

  • One cell at a time. No drill-down lists, no master-detail. The only navigation primitive is "this cell becomes the main one".
  • Links both ways, always visible. Leaders above, followers with the card. Backlinks are never a separate screen.
  • Capture from anywhere. A share extension turns text, URLs and images from any app into ordinary cells.
  • Local and instant. Reads are synchronous against on-device storage; traversal never shows a spinner.
  • Search on device. Full-text search across your graph without a round trip.
  • Edit, link, reorder. A full cell editor, link and backlink management, and drag-to-reorder.
  • Nothing lost. An append-only write log, bury-and-restore instead of delete, whole-graph backup, and failed writes surfaced rather than swallowed.

What it does not do yet

Shared notebooks between people are not built on iOS yet — that is the phase after sync. Device-to-device sync itself is written and covered by tests, but has not yet run against a live iCloud container, which is the work the beta is currently finishing.

Design

The iOS app is governed by a written design constitution rather than by whatever is convenient per screen. Some of its rules: display is a transform, never a write; there is no inbox and no invented containers, because history is a cell and structure is links; a tapped link morphs into the cell it points at instead of pushing a new page.

Requires iOS 18 or later. The beta is distributed privately to invited testers.
